Merlin Accelerated Intelligence (AI)

We developed the Merlin Accelerated Intelligence (AI) Suite, a comprehensive set of AI-powered tools for enhancing the MerlinOne digital asset management.

The Merlin AI Suite powers the AI-based search of the AP Newsroom (try it out) and has become an integral part of Canto’s AI Visual Search (see our work for Canto).

The suite includes:

• NOMAD Visual Search: An AI search engine for semantic image and video search within the MerlinOne digital asset management system. This search engine allows users to search for images and video segments using natural language descriptions of visual content, without relying on metadata.
• MerlinAI Facial Recognition: A face recognition system for identity-based search in images.
• MerlinAI Visual Similarity: A system enabling visual similarity search in images.
• MerlinAI IMPACT: An image aesthetics assessment model for selecting images with the highest perceived quality.

Our team fine-tuned AI models and search indices on customer-specific data to ensure optimal performance. To support this, we implemented a highly scalable machine learning inference pipeline on AWS capable of efficiently processing millions of image and video assets.
